This is an earlier Nest camera or doorbell generation. Google ended Works with Nest in September 2023, so historical third-party automation promises are no longer current. Continuous recording, person detection and video history depend on the exact hardware, power source, account and current service plan. Do not interpret “always recording” as free retained footage, or use this camera as a guarantee that a home is secure.

The Nest Cam IQ indoor offers one of the sharpest cameras on any home security cameras with its 4K sensor and HDR imaging.
To get all of the features of Nest Cam IQ you’ll need a Nest Aware subscription which will enable a 24/7 continuous recording along with intelligent alerts and facial recognition. Without a subscription you’ll be able to monitor the camera and see highlights via still images plus communicate with people using the built in speaker and microphone.
Additionally you can use the Nest Cam IQ as Google assistant which can be enabled in the settings.
