These original articles predate current Apple TV and HomePod generations. Apple’s current home-hub instructions should determine remote access and automation setup. For Matter over Thread, choose hardware Apple explicitly identifies as Thread enabled; not every older Apple TV or HomePod has that radio. Streaming subscriptions, AirPlay permissions and app restrictions can also change; “any iPhone app can be mirrored” is not a guarantee.

The Apple TV brings Siri, apps, and mirroring features to your TV. You can control the TV using your voice, Apple TV app, or the included remote. Apps include Pandora, Netflix, HBO, Hulu, games and more. Any iPhone app can be mirrored, or or TV can be used to mirror or extend your OSX desktop as an additional screen.
